March 25, 2010Someone shot at Eric Cantor’s office, at least if he and the media are to be believed. But what really happened? Richmond, VA police have a totally different idea.
Turns out the window was not shot at but most likely hit by a bulled on a downward trajectory. TPM has the Richmond p.d. report and it does not back up Mr. Cantor.
Of course, the media is still leading with “my office was shot at” and it’s not just Dems being threatened. Too bad it seems to be untrue. This obsession with balance leads to things being put on equal footing when they should not be. Democrats are being systematically targeted by unruly members of a political movement. To equate this most-likely unintentional incident with that is wrong.
But don’t expect the media to correct the impression or even do the basic research TPM did.
